rbrowning2
was in not the case that once the dartford tunnels had been paid for using them was going to be free, council are going bust, motorist are one of the simplest ways for to raise money, be that, tolls, parking fees, parking fines, parking zones, ULEZ etc etc. For non payment like OP has there should be a legal maximum penalty fee like say £60.00 same for parking fines in council and private car parks, the penalty does not fit the crime. This is fast becoming one messed up country. edit to add, national highways are a government owned business so I would certainly be discussing the situation with my MP asking how it is fair that a £6 fine can escalate to such a stupid amount. Also forget to tell their Gas/electricity suppliers, council tax, banks and employers that they moved and continue to pay for thier old properties bills. I don't know, possibly quite a few. There really is no benefit to not informing dvla of an address change, you'd only store up bigger problems later.

I remember a piece in the paper about a guy in London who used to park illegally as it was cheaper to pay the fine. Than the car parks fees.
