myuserid
Trying to work out which chokes to use, have been reading some of the posts on here but none of them seem to tally up with what I have. I have the following chokes: Lead * Full Lead ** IMP MOD Lead *** MOD - Also says: Steel * Full Lead **** IMP CYL - Also says: Steel ** IMP MOD ***** CYL I will be using lead only so I take it the steel markings are irrelevant? They are Franchi chokes, gun is a franchi harrier field O/U with selective barrel thingy. I will be mainly shooting pheasants and maybe the odd duck. Thanks in advance. invector
Don't use tighter than half choke with steel.
njc110381
If you're shooting the odd duck you will need to shoot something other than lead for them, even if they're not over water. Steel isn't the best substitute, but others are expensive. For most shooting 1/4 and 1/2 will do, for longer shots (if you know most will be long) try 1/2 and 3/4 as long as it's with lead shot
