Chamber length

Hi All.

I have question about chamber length,  I've been using 67mm cartridges with no issues,  but I've just bought some 70mm, so before I use them on the metalwork under the barrel release catch is says 12-70. So 12 must be the gauge is the 70 the length of the chamber? It's a lamber sporter.

Cheers

Yes. But bear in mind that a petal folded crimp closed 70mm cartridge will fit quite comfortably into a 65mm chamber as, as you will know, that 70mm or 2 3/4" is the length of the cartridge case before it is "closed" after it has been loaded by the application of either a roll crimp or a petal folded crimp becomes foreshortened.
