CumbrianWildfowler
Is it possible to obtain biodegradable ‘plastic’ gas seals from anywhere. I’m loading fibre wad bismuth loads but the nitro cards are consistently letting the side down. No surprise there I can hear you say! But is there an alternative that provides decent obturation and still breaks down. I hate having to put a plastic gas seal in the load. I know some of the manufacturers are putting them in some steel loads but can we get them as home loaders?
rbrowning2
in what way are nitro cards letting the side down? did you try two 4mm cards? RC had two in their prestige cartridges a few years back when i last cut some open. Don’t know of any steel shot cartridges that would use a plastic gas seal type obturator with a standard fibre wad unless it’s gamebore with their fibre shot cups, as otherwise the steel shot would be in contact with the bore. So far all biodegradable wads, or gas seals are being used as unique selling point for their brand of cartridges so unlikely to be available to us home loaders, unless someone knows different. just looked at gamebore website looks like they are doing a bio wad cup together with bio quad seal. https://gamebore.com/cartridge/game/12g-Regal-Steel-Bio-Wad guess you could phone gamebore and ask if they will sell you some quad seals. Yeah the Gamebore Quad Seal, I doubt they will release it to a few weirdo homeloaders given it could be a huge advantage with the non-toxic avalanche to come? I haven't tried the double nitro card, that's the only thing I haven't tried. But I will, thanks. Maybe a dodgy batch but they always set down nice and snug. I might try different cases too? Fiocchi's?
Cawdor118
Fiocchi / B&P also make a "GreenCore" biodegradable version.

Cawdor118
A biodegradable gas seal. Not sure if you can buy them, but thought you may be interested in asking them 👍

They will be dealing in millions of units to the masses not a few units for the homeloaders but you never know….
