JHendy
Hi folks, first post in 11 years, yikes! I'm a left handed shooter strongly considering a 10/22 and I'm wondering whether it's worth getting the lefty “custom shop competition “ 10/22 from Ruger or just making do with a right handed gun.I’ve heard a lot of people say that there aren’t many drawbacks to a lefty using a RH 10/22 as the brass ejects forwards, but it does seem a given that quickly reloading and pulling the charging handle would be more natural on a true left handed gun, also a true LH safety catch.Basically it's a bit of a hard decision as a left hand 10/22 "competition" model from Ruger is not far off the price of a very nice full custom 10/22 by Rimfire Magic which is a better gun with a much nicer fit and finish I would have thought?Any advice would be appreciated.cheers Edited October 3 by JHendy
Weihrauch17
No I am a lefty and used to have a RH 10/22, no issues at all.

Have you tried a normal 10/22? I've put 1,000s of rounds through a right handed 10/22, shot shot mainly left handed for various types of target shooting. I think there are disadvantages and advantages. I would prefer the ejected cases to not fly past my face and as 22LR can be a bit dirty I find eye protection essential. On the other hand it's useful to see the chamber and I find racking the gun with my right hand, loading etc easy and possibly easier than with a true left hand gun. I would carefully check the fit and finish of a new 10/22, I've seen some that don't seem to be put together as well as older guns so worth comparing the build quality to the custom gun as well. enfieldspares
Maybe, if they are still in business, RIMFIRE MAGIC in South Yorkshire may have a solution? https://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/
