Jonnyni
Im getting my new computer built at the mo thanks to Browners, and also have just ordered broadband so i'll hopefully have a superfast home computer again. Is there any useful tips for broadband or is it as simple as 'plug in and go'?
ernyha
:( Jonny, once you are connected to broadband it is as just as you hope ie plug it in and go. You are connected permanently and when you switch your PC on you are automatically on the internet. Best thing i ever did since owning a PC. barrie0
At the least make sure you have a firewall on at all times . see http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...?showtopic=4469 I've seen computers with windows 2000+xp switched on without a firewall and in a couple of minutes they have a worm virus . Next thing you know you will see a little message pop up saying rpc blah, blah, blah and it switches your computer off. Read above link get the free proggies and you should be fine ,If you can get telewest broadband round your area you get a 50% speed increase for free ie 512 to 750 ,1 to 1.5 mb ,No caps and they dont seem to care what you download ,had it for about a year now and never any downtime .
