webber
Never considered myself a political type, but having just recently studied what the main parties have to say about shooting etc, I was relieved when I opened a special envelope yesterday. Youve probably guessed that webber lives in the North West, one of the areas where its all postal vote. As I understand it, the European election is run on proportional representation rules. Therefore a less popular party, but with a chunck of votes can still get seats. I read the list of options and was pleased to see that the Countryside Parts were fielding a number of candidates. As this party seem to be the only ones with a positive attitude towards the countryside, shooting, etc; then theyve got my vote. The signature is witnessed, the paper folded and in the envelope. In the post on Tuesday. Youve got a vote, the turnout is expected to be low, this is apparently when minority parties can do better. Use your vote! webber
Yorkshire Pudding
Webber i also have a postal vote... The partys standing for the euro elections are :- Alliance for green socialism (stop war) British national party Conservatives English democratic party Green party Labour party lib dems Respect-The unity coalition Uk independence party Robert william ellis (independent) But no countryside party Out of all the partys listed , i know of only 2 , that are pro hunting . It seems a shame that my vote will be cast on one issue . I myself am not a political animal , as to my mind they all pee in the same pot . all the best yis yp :(
webber
YP As I said, I live in the North West. So given that you live in Yorkshire I suppose that its a different set of candidates. It is however disapointing to learn that CP have not aparently fielded any candidates in your area, given its size and area of agriculture. I am at work at the moment, but will try to get hold of a friend with a ballot paper to ensure that Ive not put my foot in it! Teal
It will get some nice publicity for them (and for country sports in general) if they can manage to get an MEP or two!! Sadly they don't stand in my area - hardly suprising as I live in London - so that means by default my vote goes to the conservatives. Teal
http://www.countrysideparty.com/ First off it seems to me their attempt is a bit half hearted and not much thought or effort has gone into it. For one I've ****** patterns on snow that look more coherent than this. A noble idea none the less and deserves full backing. Sadly they could really have done with a good PR campaign - which does not necessarily require a lot of money either. If after the 1st July their site is still like that I will offer to redesign it FOC. That is, after I have redesigned and implemented some new features on pigeonwatch. It's a good idea but will always be extremely limited in scope. If they want to broaden out and attract more support from other sections of society then they really need to attack the serious problems of the country we live in today. I think 90% of countrysports enthusiasts would say the UK we live in is "okay" for country sports. Yes there are restrictions but on the whole the system is acceptable (In my opinion!). This party however seems pledged - as per their manifesto- to attack every bit of legislation which affects people in the countryside. I don't know if the order is of significance, but usually the "important" things go at the top. http://www.countrysideparty.com/Manifesto%202003.htm . With a little bit of effort on their part I am sure they could secure a couple of seats on the back of rural backing... but they are and always will be a fringe party with virtually no voice unless they can embrace wider principles which are more effective for Britain today than those proposed by the major parties.I think the party - there is no problem with it standing up for country sports + opposing all future legislation but they should be more pro active promoting their other policies such as... EDUCATION, HEALTH and HOUSING. Which can win any party major votes if they play their cards right and listen to the population. Currently all the parties are doing all pretty much the same thing - which is **** all. I may have to set up my own political party in the future.... Train late? Or are you not bothered because it is "Political ****". Going on holiday soon? Or are you not bothered because it is "Political ****".
