Northampton S. G. at Sywell hold regular Semi-Auto competitions but will not allow Pump-Action shotguns to be used.

Yes they had one today, 80 bird auto shoots. Great fun. Barbury also hold their semi auto masters shoot every year and there's the annual Benelli Sp'auto which moves about, it was held at Holland and Holland last year.

I’ve had this thought for some time really, but thought I’d voice it now particularly in light of potential impending legislation where all shotguns are classed as S1 and therefore require ‘good reason’.
Does anyone have any idea how viable  ( in terms of attracting revenue ) it would be for clay grounds to hold ‘semi auto’ only or ‘pump’ only competitions?
It would give many people their ‘good reason’ ( if goal posts are moved and ‘sporting use’ no longer fits the bill ) possibly boost sales and generally just add something positive to the overall outlook.
I've seen the odd ‘auto’ only shoot advertised, but very rarely and nothing at all on a regular basis, so I’ve possibly answered my own question, but it may generate interest? Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️

Never seen a pump only shoot, sounds like it would be good fun but they're not anywhere near as popular as autos.

Sounds promising, and good fun. 👍

Where has this ‘shotguns becoming section 1’ thing come from?

From the governments response to the consultation, Recommended changes to firearms licensing: government response (accessible) - GOV.UK

Quote

2.3 The government takes the view that shotguns are no less lethal than other firearms that are controlled under section 1 of the Firearms Act 1968, and that it is right to look again at the differences in the controls and whether it is sensible, in order to address the risks that shotguns and firearms present if misused, to consider greater alignment of the controls. The government therefore intends to issue a new consultation on improving and aligning the controls on shotguns with other firearms. We intend to publish this consultation later this year.
