Oly
Farmers reckon that they will simply end up paying the fine as they still won't get the right price for their milk!
Dead-Eyed Duck
Lot of my customers deal with supermarkets. Whenever they have a special offer they say that you (the supplier) will reduce your prices to us equivalent to the savings that we are going to offer. Scumbags and for the innocents out there, the supermarket buyers are on big, big bonuses to reduce what they pay their suppliers. Spaniel
Down our way we have Cadburys in Keynsham which is now under threat of closure and moving to Poland. What I have heard from a local dairy farmer is that the milk at present is tansported from Poland to over here to manufacture the Cadburys chocolate....it must be cheeper for them to produce and transport the milk from Poland to the UK, then it is to purchase the milk from the UK Farmers.......hence why the operation is moving to Poland. But how can this be....I mean the transport costs alone must be expensive? Isnt this the same with Matthews Turkeys...when he brought Bird Flu over here a while back, he was breeding and transporting turkeys from poland to the uk, i would expect at less costs then it would take to breed them over here... Welcome to the capitalist world. Just think, if you were a director of Cadbury, and would receive a personal £500,000 bonus to move the operation to Poland for cost savings, what would you do? I am not saying that you would, but it's a hell of a dilemma isn't it - and having a little knowledge of what goes on, then that's the kind of figures you would be talking about - at least.
