Hi all, ok im looking to buy a new 22 rimfire and ive seen a couple of ads around on the net of ones i want to possibly buy, could someone tell me how i go about buying these, in the past i have brought both my guns from shops but i am just wondering what i have to do to buy one from an individual, i live in the south and a guy from up north has a nice rifle for sale and said he would meet me half way to do the deal, is it safe doing this? has anyone else brought in this way? would appreciate feedback as i dont want to get in any trouble or get ripped off!

Safest option realy is for him to send the firearm to a local RFD, where you can have it placed on your ticket correctly. There will then be a record of this taking place. Meeting the man may also be fine, I have done several non gun related trips like that, its down to you feeling safe to do the transaction. (I always take a friend)

And remember, you can ALWAYS walk away if you smell foul play.. plenty of other guns out there.

I bought my .17 off fister on here in a car park which sounds a little dodgy but basically you need to check out each others firearms tickets before anything else. If you are happy that the other person is the one on the ticket then proceed and check its on their ticket properly. I'd not send one between gun shops purely as I work in the overnight parcels industry and wouldn't want the agro if it got damaged in transit
