Ferret Master
Hi, I occasionally notice rabbit fur in the grass outside warrens and was wondering why? It is usually a fair bit in quite a small area of grass. One reason I have been given is does ripping the fur out to line their nests? Thanks in advance for any and all replys. davo
Could be the bucks fighting, they always seem to be chasing and scrapping with each other.
salisburykeeper
pregnant does use belly fur to line nests, also when the rabbits are scrapping or mating there are bunches of fur around, its most likely to be bucks though this time of year. Ferret Master
I must admit the idea of bucks fighting entered my mind as I have shot a few with the odd bald patch. Thanks for the replys. FM

OneEye
The sight of bunnies tearing lumps of fur and skin off each other is a good cure for the 'how can you eat them they're so cute' brigade. Vicious little devils.
Bigbob
Due to the mild weather there probably mating if there was snow on the ground you would see blood from the does in the urine outside the burrows .
