jayward
No birds & Not from broken or empty traps !!! Ok this stems from a bad day out yesterday and i just wondered how other shooters feel about them and if it messes with your shooting ? not the odd one !! (a few i can take) but a string of them i intermittently !!! I will elaborate i shot a 200 yesterday and had no joke around 20 odd no birds now normally i can get over this but it started to upset me and when im Not relaxed and enjoying my self my shooting suffers , I did have a break and got it back but tbh today its got my back up one reason is i ended up bloody paying for them and thats annoyed me ever so slightly .. OHH Yess !! So when you get a no bird on the first bird do you shoot the second ? Or if its the second bird do you reload and go for a extra pair or just count it as a pair ? And Do they get to you < after a good few!! or do you rise above it ? Its likely im not happy as i had to pay extra for a **** day i shot badly and i had loads of no birds and had to argue my point in the club house i hate that as it questions my integrity and thats something i value a lot !!! i simply would not try and blag a few extra i can afford to shoot what i do . i can go anywhere and argue i pay to enjoy myself and have a good shoot...Paying to argue is beyond the joke .. and ive said this before i take as many shells as im going to shoot and thats what i expect to pay for !! I left the club and visited a few farms on the way home seeking a bit of vermin shooting i had a few firm No,s and a few maybe,s im going to visit many more in the new year to secure more ground .. Rant over !!!
Spaniel
HI If we get any No Birds, then we will call for a pair again. When shooting down the Clay Cafe at Weymouth, we usually get the odd few, but the guys always delete these from out totals at the end, so we dont have to pay for them. I think you may get clays breaking when leaving the trap etc as they are pickups...
Chard
Which ground were you shooting, Jay? If we're just having a knockabout, we just pull the no bird again. not the pair, unless it was a simultaneous pair, then we do the pair again. Obviously, in a comp, both birds are always pulled again. We always have up to about 10% no birds at Worsley, but if you show that you've made an effort to record which stands gave no birds and how many from each stand, they tend to let them go, in other words, they don't expect you to pay for genuine no birds. However, I suspect they are on the lookout for people taking extra shots and reporting them as no birds The main thing is, if one or two traps are producing a particularly bad run of no birds, then all shooters will experience similar problems on those stands, so they're happy that you're not trying to fiddle a few extra. jayward
tbh i cant see the point of trying to fiddle a few extra. i do genuinely expect to pay for what i shoot its just the way i am ... i take with me say 150 or 200 shells i shoot them all and expect to pay for 150 or 200 birds the argument and my little whine is purely the icing on the cake i had a bad day end of lol i Let the no bids get to me and found them very off putting , so i was wondering if any one suffers with this in both knock about and competition ? i had a little problem with my firing pin one week intermittent firing and this had the same effect very off puting ... i had a go @ spinning my carts and lining them up straight (something i read ) and tbh this helped me focus a little but it deff got to me !! I agree it can be distracting, like your firing pin problem. You often see shooters in comps, even top shots, missing a bird after they've had their flow interrupted by a no bird. I suppose the trick is to train your mind not to let it be an interruption, and just to take the next pair as if nothing had happened, but I'm sure that's easier said than done. I get distracted easily, probably something to do with the riff-raff I shoot with
Yellow Bear
Riff Raff - I resemble that remark - anyway you have room to talk The Bear As to fiddling the extras, it's just the majority being inconvenienced for the inconsiderate or greedy few as usual. Gordon R
Agree about the majority suffering, but it is still annoying. I still resent paying for others who cheat and take the mickey. That's life.
A K A
i shoot at e.j.churchills, which is vertualy on my doorstep, if i go on a caddied round for 50....70../or 100 bird sporting. thats what i pay for..but like most i find it a bit off putting when you get a no birder. thats life. trap breakdowns and flat batts is down to bad management,
