sussex lad
Can anyone tell me why you can only use factory ammo when doing your shooting test?
Dunkield
I used a borrowed the instructors gun with his hand loads to do mine No idea why they have changed that, I did read that some BASC deer stalking schemes state factory ammo only. Bazooka Joe
We wern't asked, just got on with it, surely anyone who home loads would have tried them before they were to take there DSC-1. BJ.

BJ, It would be nice to agree with you, but I am afraid that when organising any event it is better to be safe than sorry. On the DSC1 course I was on there were some strange ideas on good safe gun handling, by some very experienced shots (the range officer was an ex Para with a very loud voice and surprisingly colourful vocabulary). I will admit though that lots of folks used their own hand loads, some of which were particularly accurate. This was the BDS course Oct/Nov at the RAC Cirencester, all that was specified was, a"deer legal" calibre with 40 rounds minimum taken to the range.
