my ferrets

I prefer the little jills as they work harder and are rarely able to catch a rabbit and hold it.

I have had rabbits hit the nets, with a small jill hanging on.

Bigger polecats can catch and hold rabbits, which can be a nuisance.

But, they are good for moving foxes out of land drains and finding laid-up jills (before locators).

I must say I prefer to use large hobs, I have 3 of them fang and bandit and One with no name :) I will get some photos of them soon and post them, My mate also has a VERY large hob which is about the size of a small cat, although this is to big as the poor ferret can not fit down all the holes and we can not get a locator on him as he has such a fat neck :):) :look:

my mate walks him on a lead in the street where he lives :):)

My first wife used to have 6 of the ******* and take them for walks on a lead.

She though more of the little F.....s than she did of me.

I used three of them for rabbiting. Always 1 small Gill to bolt the bunnies and I made sure she wasnt too hungry as to kill and lay up on the carcass as the bigger hobs sometimes do.

If the gills sometimes are unkeen to return a big hob will often flush them out.

Once I lost a gill for about two hours and she finally made it out ripped to pieces I dug down the burrow and out popped the biggest feral pole cat I have ever seen. Nasty piece of work he was even took a good chunk out of my Border before i finished him off with the 20g.

I used to go with a Ferret and a shotgun, no nets, to hone my shooting skills
