Another clay ground closes

Whilst driving back from our shoot this afternoon I received a telephone call from my keeper friend in Cumbria.

Sadly my spring and summer Sundays at my holiday home will never be the same.

Adrien advised me that Stan at Lindale has sold all of his traps to Holker, who intend doing simulated game.

Sadly Stan has been doing too much with the clays and the contracting, and the contracting has won. Stans was a unique set up. I shall miss going there and the craic with Stan.

Does anyone know of other Sunday shoots within a reasonable distance of Milnthorp.

I am already aware of the shoot at Ulpha, which is quite good, except that they dont shoot during August.

To say that I am gutted is an understatement, it feels like a bereavement.

What about Coniston Shooting Grounds?

It's near Skipton or about 30 miles south of Kendal

Try Crabtree farm in Lupton on the A65 it's the lane opposite The Plough Inn.

They have a 50 bird clayshoot every Saturday 11.00-15.00 and are open on a Wednesday evening 17.00-21.00.

Free tea and coffee FIBRE wads only.Edward will Not tolerate plaswads.

All traps are modern automatics with very few no birds the terrain is hilly farmland.
