sharp_shooter
Does anyone use these on a regular basis? I love them, I get 1/2 inch groups at 30 yards with my tx200hc which is better than accupell do!!!! And for the price a complete bargain!!! What do you think? Vulcha
I started useing them recently and found that they were quite good. However, they started going crappy. I think it may be because the re-coil has affected the scope. I was getting 1 inch groups at about 40 meters. And they expand aswell. I noticed this when i found one pellet. they seem to back a punch. I fired 10 shots at a target pinned to a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and blew a hole in it! 1 of 5
The problem with hollowpoints is they shed energy fast downrange. They also get less accurate the further out you go. If they're accurate in your barrel and you stick to short and medium ranges then fine, use them. They don't pack a punch as said though because at 30 yds in .22 AA field will still deliver 9.5 ft/lb to the quarry whereas the RWS hollowpoints will deliver just 6.5 ft/lb due entirely to their poor ballistics. Both figures assume starting off at 11.5 ft/lb at the muzzle. I've said it so many times now but a good roundhead will suffice far better for 99% of most shooters needs, will be more accurate and keep their energy better than any other pellet type. The quarry won't give a stuff what hits it so long as you hit the correct spot with sufficient force.
roblade
hmmmmmm 1/2" gropus at 30 yards? or do you mean 1-2 inch groups? the latter i would belive. with the tx200 i found either AAfield to be about the best pellet out there giving clover leaf groupings at 35 yards but the hollow points are excellent for the close range ratting! though i wouldnt personally use them for anythin but the rats, its all about your personal choice whatever pellets give you the best grouping are the best pellets to use. PEREGRINE
I always use acupell, for pure killing power they are hard to beat. Very acurate too, head shot rabbits go down like they have been hit with a .22 rimfire on many occasions I have picked up a shot bunny with the blade of grass it was eating still in its mouth, it did'nt even know it was dead
