Mutley
I'm the same go just before it gets light and set up.....If nothing much happens at least you can use the day as a recky to see whats happening and where so the day isn't a total waste
Cranfield
A lot depends on the weather, on wet mornings the birds often stay in the woods a bit longer and in prolonged heavy rain they may stay there all day. There is food in the woods, so they don't always have to go to the fields. It also varies in some areas. I use to shoot a farm with some small 4-5 acre fields surrounded by woodland, they were extremely well sheltered and the birds fed there all day regardless of any weather conditions. Being on your land and looking in all conditions and times, helps you build up your local "picture".

Sundowner
I found that they are feeding all day long in absolutely huge numbers, but once they have gone, you can sit for hours without seeing one
