andrewluke
never handled a webley & scott 1000 model but i would much prefer beretta silver pigeon for around the same money.

Windknot
I shot one recently, and was pretty impressed. Apparently the guns are made by Zoli in Italy, so quality shouldn't be an issue. The gun I saw (12 gauge, 30" barrels) was well made- metal was finished well, chequering on the stock was sharp, wood to metal fit was good too. Only thing I didn't care for was the engraving- I thought it was a bit naff, but tastes differ. The gun handled like most sporters in that price bracket- not too lively, but definitely not a punt gun either. The stock had a little too much drop for me, but I normally shoot a Miroku 3800, so take that from whence it comes. The trigger pulls were quite good- no creep, with just a bit of overtravel, and broke near the 4 lb mark. This gun had an auto safety, which I could do without, but apparently it can be disconnected but I have no idea whether this would require a trip to the gunsmith or if it's a DIY proposition.
