lumps

Hi,

Our dog, a border collie, also has a few lumps on her body and legs. We took her to the vet and they said they were just fatty lumps and they wudn't remove them unless they were causing her any pain or discomfort.

Still, if it were my dog I wud still take it to the vets just to be on the safe side. Nothing wrong with having an expert opinion to clear your mind of any doubt and worry. Hopefully, it's nothing too serious.

hi im lookng for abit of advice my 3 year old spriner has devoleped a lump on it/s front leg wich is very red and inflamed has any body any idea what this may be before i take him to the vet

Is there any pus, could be a blackthorn, get someone to hold his muzzle while you have a good look with a mag glass, if its a thorn it should work its way to the surface in a day or two and you may be able to remove it with tweezers.

If you cant see anything and hes in pain then its off to the vet ££££.

I'm not having a pop, but, you would take your child to the doctor if there was a problem wouldn't you?

Do the same for your buddy

I'm not dismissing this but it did bring some research a while back done by Pfizer animal health who my brother worked for that about 80% of dogs seen for non routine things by vets would have got better on their own.

With this one keep an eye on it as said it could well be a thorn which you can keep clean with simple salty water and in much the same way as you do if you get one yourself then you can try and help it out. If you keep it clean and keep an eye on it if the irritation lessens then its fine to leave but if it just gets worse then its worth a trip to the vet.

It could be the dog licking it thats making it look especially inflamed if so it may be worth getting hold of one of the hooded collars to stop it doing it and it will then be able to heal.
