Zapp
Yes, you will need a special ticket. In order to get one you will have to get a special box made to store the powder. Speak to your FLO, they will run you through the process. Zapp
claypop
You do for BP but you can use Hodgsons 777 or Pyrodex as a replacement both of which you can buy off ticket. Triple 7 is best as it's water soluable & less corrosive with no sulphur thus no rotten eggs! Edited February 17, 2008 by claypop
flight-path
Can you buy pryodex on an ormal shotgun cert then?
claypop
You don't need a SGC for powders at all - except BP.
flight-path
So anyone can just buy powder.Would that not then get into all the wrong hands.Where the hell do you buy it from anyway.
claypop
I agree powders should be controlled but the difference with smokeless (nitro) powders & black powder is safety - you need a detonation with nitros to ignite them - hence the fact nitros are off ticket & primers are now controlled. You buy from gun shops & most gun shops do not sell powders in my experience. Edited February 17, 2008 by claypop

Cne they be sent by post?Primers and caps? only a RFD courier could do it, and it would be very expensive. must be an outlet near you.as to do it either way a ticket is goint to have to be produced. flight-path
I emailed the guy.The only question is, can a smoothbore muzzleloader fire a sabbot with a bullet or singel projectile in it.How would the police know if people where doing it.Stupid law if you ask me. Zapp
If it aint too far there is a place in cambridgeshire called fenland rural sports who do BP guns etc. In answer to your last question, yes, a smoothbore gun can fire a solid projectile in theory. As soon as it is loaded with a solid round it becomes a section 1 firearm and therefore requires a FAC. The police wouldnt know you were doing it until you get rumbled, at which point you would probably face some jail time for the unlicenced possesion of a firearm. henry d
I think you would be very silly if you did anything like that as a solid slug behaves very differently to that of a wad and shot Try thinking of fingers and face re-arranged by the gun un-ravelling
claypop
Yorkshire? Cne they be sent by post?Primers and caps? Pistol/rifle primers on FAC ticket, Shotgun primers on SGC, Percussion caps not on ticket. Few will send by post.
