fishandshoot
Pete I,m finding that there is so much food around at the moment that its difficult to keep birds in the area. Turned up yesterday on some cut rape which must have have 100+ woodies on it and got excited. After a dozen or so shots they were no where to be seen. Wnet home for a bacon sarnie and took my lad pike fishing, check out his first pike in the pics. Happy shooting F&S
Aled_cky
grass? whats that? we havn't had green grass since december, 1/4 inch of rain in 4months, great we need rain and rain fast, its just started to 'rain' lightly now. it is 1 of the nicest feelings for me to go outside and not be blasted by the sun, and now its nice and cool outside with rain  Aled
pete k
went out today and set up on the grass as there were 100s on it so was excited , fired 1 shot and the lot lifted and went to the other side of the field and then i find out that the farmer has cut the peas so you can guess what they were feeding on!!!!! so ended up with 6 for the day , nevermind pete
ernyha
pete k, it is most probable that they were just resting up on the grass and getting a bit of moisture before attacking the peas again. Had this happen a few weeks ago with crows when we were shooting them over laid barley. They were on a grassy field by the hundreds and then flighting into the barley where we were set up. To make it more interesting, pigeons followed them in and fed along side them.
pete k
no the grass was only sown yesterday and the farmer says its a very expensive grass (probably the smoking kind ) it will apparently have some sort of flowers in the grass , pete
Aled_cky
flowers being clovers by any chance? every farmer wants clover. Aled

Aled_cky
now that is bad, if only we had that down here. we havn't even had our quads or tractor tyres in wet ground, quad went through a river a few weeks back, it was dry aswell we have been using buckets in some fields to give water, in the field where there are rivers, as there is no water left  Aled
lazza
We've had loads of rain today, and the humidity this morning was diabolical. The last week has been like living in the tropics, what has happened to the seasons?
Aled_cky
it was 27*C with us today i think, i spent 7hours in the sea so i was nice and cool we were supposed to have rain, last thursday friday saturday and sunday and today! but it only drizzled for a while on sunday, was niec beach weather at 4.00 anyway  it seems to be good harvest and silage weather and good beach weather for us down here.. but noone has got any grass to cut, like our hay which we have rested for 4 months now is just over knee hight in stems and then 3inches of clover.
