tulkyuk
I scared one last night as well , dont know what the hell happened, i had him bang to rights in the scope at 140 yrds , pulled the trigger & heard a nice thud, then charlie jumps in the air and runs off like nothing happened - another one to chase round for a few months i suppose

lazza
It's really satisfying when you catch up with one you've been after for a while. Well done Mark

bob300w
I have never known anyone to use different filter colours. Is this purely as they get used to the colour if you use the same one each time? Good write-up mate. I am looking forward to getting out after Mr foxy on the farm where I shoot. Do fox's generally run like clockwork then? From previous posts I have read they seem to be in the same spot at the rough same times each day when people stalk them. Some foxes particularly those near busy roads relate white light with danger and just dont settle long enough for the shot also if someone else has missed that fox with an unmoderated rifle they tend to be very jumpy The coloured filter is also a lot softer light and does not tend to frighten the fox as much.Foxes that i have been after if i didnt fire one day they will be in the same area the next day at roughly the same time they are a creature of habit so its worth leaving them for another day if the fox is to far or the shot is to risky they wont be disturbed so they will be there again. That could be it markbivvy there is a lot of terriermen in that area so they could have paid that foxes earth a visit at some stage That sounds good magman It's the illegal lurcher boys with lights that make foxes lamp shy in this area, once they have been lamped, they associate the light with a dog on their heels. What sort of useable range do you get with a green filter, compared to white? Like you, I have tried red, but the useable range is pants. tulkyuk
Bob, its not far off the white mate ( maybe lose 75yrds - can easiley see out to 400yrds) - just that charlie dosnt associate it danger.
tikkamark
Should of kept ya .243 instead of that girls gun   You lads just arnt putting the bullet in the right spot....i dont think i ever had a runner with the .223 put it spot on through the heart, neck or head and its good luck and goodnight John you would be very happy with a green filter on your striker they are a good job on the more streetwise foxes Bob you could realistically get 300yrds with the filter fitted i like you found the red **** you can just about see 150 with it There is a cattle drinker across the field from my window which i have ranged to many times out of boredom its exactly 255yrds away with the scope-light and filter you can see the drinker no problem so if a fox was sitting there it would be very shootable
JohnGalway
John you would be very happy with a green filter on your striker they are a good job on the more streetwise foxes Am thinking I'll get green for the Striker and Blitz and amber again another time. Seen the same lamp shy SOB again last night for the third time this month, who ever missed him did a good job of it  Half thinking of sitting out with the NV and shottie, but not in this weather
