Sundowner
hi all, just a quick note to share this with you! I trained max my GWP to sit after flushing birds, so, this morning I took him out for a walk and the next thing I know, there is this tawny owl flying up and when I looked at my dog, he sat! He looked confused, but what the heck, it's a bird ,, right??? tawny owl seemed to be confused as well as it flew right over my head, about 5 yards up, funny though!!!! (The rest of this story is the owl was turned over to proper authorities and, taxidermied, became an educational display for students. This one is a little different--the dog did not sit to the flush, which was a bald eagle that fled without its dinner, or without wholly consuming its dinner, and the dog shall we say "inherited" the leftovers: Notice for the retrieve how the nice "British" mouth wants nowhere near the blood and gore. al4x
do you find it ok to sit after flushing sundowner. Most things I've read about training pointers want to to get them to hold point when they flush rather than sit.
Sundowner
yes deeks, it is the whistle every time on the bird flying up ! al4x, if you are a lousy shot like me, it sure is preferable to have the dog sitting after flushing than being anywhere near the bird ! Seriously, it just makes more sense to me personally, but, as always, it is the individuals choice.but, there really is nothing left to point at, just the smell lingering?
