dustyfox
The person who got me in trouble a couple of weeks ago has a Springer which is coming to 7 months old, the dog has not been trained to heal or stay and I have just been told by someone that the dog is ruined and would never be allowed to go on a shoot. I have told him a number of times to keep him on the lead and teach him to heal and stay but again he will not listen, and his reply was Springers dont need to stay or heal. Yeap I know what you are thinking Nonsense, but I have done my bit and cannot do anymore if he does not listen. My question is, Is the guy right by saying he has ruined the dog or is ther still a chance? Thanks DF
WGD
At 7 months the dog is far from ruined but without decent training, which it doesn't sound like it's going to get, it will never progress to be a decent shooting or beating dog. dustyfox
the dog is never on the lead not even when next to a busy road and has nearly been ran over a couple of times, loads of people have told him to keep him on the lead and he does not listen. I just fear for the dogs safety, he is going to ruin a good dog that can become a good working dog. he keeps on asking me to help him train him but again what can you do if you are not listened too. The way I see it and this other guy says the dog is ruined I was just asking if there was still a chance of this dog making it.
Dave-G
I thought you were going to clear him off DF?
new to the flock
Dusty, Print off the obediance training outline pinned in this section and give it to him. He then has the option of reading and getting control on his dog or not. Who knows with an incentive he may well get you to give him a hand and get the dog working.
