mattj40
Hello, I am new to The Sport of Clay shooting and wondered if i could get some advice. Having just bought my first gun (Silver pig 5 12G) after a few lessons; i now have another minefield to navigate through which is the choice of cartridge. For the foreseable future i am looking to gain some experience on local Clay grounds. As a complete novice i am tempted to buy the cheapest on the market. Could anyone help with a choice/brand of Cartridge. I have read a tremendous amount on velocity, shot size etc and am still none the wiser on a specific choice. Thanks in advance. CEREALTHRILLER
I'm sure if you do a search you will find lots of info but try Express 24g or 28g size 7.5 or 8.
Markio
Welcome local person! Don't worry too much on cartridge choice. I was tending to stick with Gamebore Whitegold #8 but tried a few Eley Firsts #8 from Mungler and guess what? If made **** all difference! Except they are cheaper. What are you shooting? Skeet, sporting, DTL? That might make a difference to shot size. If it's 100% skeet then go for #9, if it's DTL then #7.5. I use #8 as it's middle of the road as i shoot mainly sporting. If i were you go for a cheapish cart like Eley firsts and give it whirl for a while. Everyone will say, "as long as you point it in the right direction....."
