Mod Cover

I recently added a neoprene cover to my T8 mod, it is fairly thick, probably about 5mm. The idea is to reduce the “ting†sound you get from the mod when firing and also to protect the mod a little when clambering around the shoot or crawling through rough ground.

In daytime it is not a problem but under the lamp it creates glare back onto the objective lens and I cant see a thing. I think light is hitting the end of the cover nearest the lamp and reflecting back. I have low mounts which is not helping the situation but prefer them for shooting.

So I thought I would try the inner tube of a bike tyre, cut to length and slipped over the mod instead.

But there is no way I can get this to slid over the mod, struggled last night for about 30 mins and gave up. I warmed the rubber to make it more stretchy and it helped a little but still no good. Trouble is the T8 has a rough textured surface so it grips to anything on it.

Anyone got any other ideas to get it over or something else to use?

Go to your local chemist get some small sized tubigrip things for sprained ankle etc, buy some black material dye from tesco asda and dye the tubigrip black, then you can put it on and fold it over on itself until it is the disired thickness you require for protection, you can also get the tubigrip as long as you like and it will cover the barrel, forestock or pull it over to half way along the scope and make a cut for the front of the scope to go through....

Job done, the only problem is it is not waterproof.

Get a bigger inner tube, one for a mountain bike and use talcum powder. I don't think this will cure the problem of glare from the T8.

I had the same problem and found that fitting a sunshade to the scope worked for me. You could also try blanking off the bottom part of the lamp lens.

I don't think you will get a mountain bike inner tube over a T8 that easily, I use one on my PES but that is much smaller in diameter.

That's what I used on mine, went on easy enough. Can't remember if it was 1.75 or 2.00 diameter.

i used an old mouse mat on my mod.its smaller than the t8 ,but cut it to fit,its about 3mm foam, and then coverred with amalgamated tape to hold it on,works a treat

It was a mountain bike tube and tried the talc, going to can that idea now.

With out the mod cover I get no glare at all and I will look out for a sun shade but my local, Andersons, dont have any at the moment.
