Pike
In view of the recent annoyncement regarding the hunting with dogs bill - was anybody else planning to go up to parliament square. I know a few of us hunt, and maybe the ones who don't could come along and offer support? I will be in parliament square from about mid-day. Cranfield
Who is organising this meeting on the 15th ? There is nothing about it on the Countryside Alliance website (if there is, I can't find it).
lurcherboy
They sent e-mails out today Cranfield, check your inbox sir LB
Cranfield
I haven't had an email and there is nothing on their website, which seems strange. Perhaps it will arrive tomorrow, nobody else has mentioned it.
Pike
There is a small piece on the website asking people to go up on wed and offer their support, but as far as I can make out it has been too short notice for the big campaigning for support to get off the ground. I have just bumped into the local BASC group chairman and he tells me that the West Essex BASC group will be going, as will most of the beaters and pickers up from our shoot and a good handfull from the local ranger service. Hope to see you all up there, and please, no more off this "They will just ban it anyway"attitude that I have been receiving in personal e-mails. If we stand back and watch hunting go because we don't hunt, then stand back and watch fishing go because we don't fish, who is going to be left to help us out when shooting is next on the agenda? :yp: Pike
Cranfield
I would be suprised if you received any negative emails from this site saying, "they will ban it anyway". Most of us attended the Countryside March and lobby for Country Sports whenever we get the opportunity. I have a prior obligation on the 15th, which I am trying to change. I will be there if I can. :yp:
Pike
Thanks Cranfield, but unfortunatley I have had just that. I would name and shame but the person responsible can live with his own conscience. Hope to see you there Pike

Guest flightline
I wanted to go but have a work commitment I just can`t break. I guess that there will be other opportunities though and I`ve emailed the PMs office and Defra (the Department for Ending Farming and Rural Affairs) saying how loathsome the proposal is.. I`m such a regular correspondent that my name and email pop up automatically on their sites. If they only knew how much I loathed them... PS Don`t think you`ll find it easy to get anywhere near Parliament Square on Wednesday. My guess is the Police will cordon it off. Hopefully this will affect MPs too and they won`t have a quorum...As someone who is almost entirely peaceful and a believer in democracy, I can now see the attraction of violence and intimidation. The antis started it years ago. Look at Huntingdon Life Sciences and the Guinea Pig Farm near Burton. Suppose no Labour MP (apart from Kate Hoey) and Anne Widdecombe (should be deselected as a Tory MP) could get through to the vote?
lurcherboy
The CA have talked to the police who in turn have assured them the roads will not be cordoned off and coaches will not be turned back. LB

Pike
Thanks for your support rifleman - I will now know to keep backs to the wall when the knives come out. :yp:
Guest Mr Pieman
Pike, thats a little harsh on Rifleman He is only saying what many think. Rather than shout him down, perhaps a few words or support or some uplifting comment might have been better. Rifleman, there's no doubt that things are looking grim at the moment but, as always, we'll dig in and fight like a pi**ed off badger for as long as possible :yp: We share the same ideologies, outlooks and countryside, we need to stand together and support each other rather than put our hands up and slip into the 'pit of dispair'. Cheers PP
