berettaman1
Just been reading of the difference that British and Canadian Goverments adopt When dead soldiers are returned home....In Canada roads are closed for the funeral cars, and families and schoolchildren, line the route while police and firefighters salute as the funeral cortage passes by....In Britain no one knows when our dead are being returned , in fact I dont think this Goverment wants any more bad press and keep it quiet. Pictures in todays Daily Mail show the different homecomings of each nations War dead. Our lads stuck in traffic jams!!

Pictures in todays Daily Mail show the different homecomings of each nations War dead. Our lads stuck in traffic jams!! Just read this article in the 'Mail'and it got me absolutely fuming. This government really doesnt give a toss for the sacrifice our lads are making in foreign parts. There is no excuse for not providing a full police escort from where these heroes land to wherever there bodies are taken. There just seems to be no respect for our war dead. I dont just think its the government trying to 'cover up' either i think its probably down to the cost involved although there is always enough police to escort tin pot royals and government officials who deem themselves 'important' enough to warrent police escorts where ever they go. Cranfield
I don't think our Government wants to remind us of the waste of young lives in this pointless conflict.
PaulABF
I'm not sure if you're aware but every time one of our soldier's is repatriated to RAF Lyneham, the nearby town of Wooton Basset comes to a standstill. The cortege passes through the town and all the civvies stand still, removing any hats or headwear and the local British Legion members line the route. Simple but effective and a fitting tribute to the lads.
jcbruno
thats terible lads, a country should never forget weather or not the war is pointless, i have been to a few funerals all over Canada for a few dead friends and it was always very hard to face there famalies, but i can say when the comunity acts like they care it makes a big difference to the loved ones of the fallen, even though Canada opted to only partisipate in Afghanastan which in a way i am thankfull for,my heart goes out to all the British,Australian and yes even American soldiers in Iraqfighting for what i am not sure exactly, But a soldier follows order's and trust's his government to make the right decisions,my heart goes to you and your's Edited April 13, 2008 by jcbruno
