Joke from Westminster

Last Monday I emailed my local MP Sir Alan Hazelhurst to ask for his support on the 15th. I half expected a lengthly but clear yes or no answer but as you have all guessed that wasn't to be the case. :yp:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email of the 13th September about hunting.

You will know, of course, by now that the Bill has been re-introduced and that it once again obtained a huge majority in the House of Commons. The deal to delay implementation of the Bill is a behind the scenes deal, cynically contrived by the Prime Minister to try to avoid the Government being caused trouble on this subject ahead of the next General Election. It remains to be seen whether the House of Lords will approve the Ammendment carried out by the House of Commons.

Any one been sent similar replies?

P.S. It took a week for the reply to reach me

Well done for contacting your MP :yp:

I expect the reason he failed to give you a positive yes or no answer is that he did not vote at all, as far as I can see. How did your MP vote

I would contact him again to find out why he was not in the Commons on the 15th and exactly where his sympathies lie on this issue. Make it very clear to him that you will not be voting for him in the future if he doesn't support peoples right to hunt.

Q

More Labour MP's opposed it than I thought would:

Labour MPs opposing the hunting ban

Hilary Armstrong (Durham North West)

Margaret Beckett (Derby South)

David Blunkett (Sheffield Brightside)

Nick Brown (Newcastle upon Tyne East & Wallsend)

Robin Cook (Livingston)

Mark Fisher (Stoke-on-Trent Central)

Kate Hoey (Vauxhall)

Huw Irranca-Davies (Ogmore)

Tommy McAvoy (Glasgow Rutherglen)

Alun Michael (Cardiff South & Penarth)

Austin Mitchell (Great Grimsby)

Dr Tony Wright (Cannock Chase)

I only knew of Kate Hoey who would oppose it, I'm going to write emails to the ones who opposed it saying thanks. It doesn't need to be long guys, but let's say 1 in 10 of the members (100) did it, it would make a difference.
