InGen
thanks. not sure if the dray is still about we have upto 50 duck come so its hard to tell. no we dont keep them as pets but we do feed them and most of them stay all year round there is one who has not left in 2 years. the ones that do leave often return. we are thinking new spuds and orange sauce lol we dont shoot them but when we see the food bill for them that thought does sometimes slip into your mind. Ferret Master
A drey is a squirrels nest made of leaves and twigs. Certainly wouldn't taste like any ducks I have ever eaten! FM

Ice
A drey is a squirrels nest made of leaves and twigs. Certainly wouldn't taste like any ducks I have ever eaten! FM *****, ill have to agree with you there Any sign of a return yet?? not sure how they would fair up being hand raised, would make dead easy targets when there older if thats the case. My farther in law has recently bought a dozen quail eggs, they have recently hatched and seem to be doing just fine, in a nice cozy little hutch with a great big red lamp. Teal
The best way to catch ducklings is to capture the mum. Obviously this is not possible. What equipment do you have, a long net or similar could work very nicely. You need to make sure that you don't lose them in the long grass. Thinking about it if you capture some of the youngsters and put them in a cage I suspect the others may be drawn in by them as well. The main thing is not to pursue them for hours on end, as they are not going anywhere unless you completely stress them out. Are they taking up the chick crumbs you are giving them? If so there is little need to catch them up.
InGen
i did think that they do seem to stick together so if i get some i have a large outdoor cage i used to keep the rabbits in. if i can put a few in there then maby the rest will follow. not all are eating no only about 5 have taken food i put down. the other get in a bundle.
