Si-Bore
Hey guys I went out with the crow and magpie dead birds I shot on Sun morning wondering whether an evening would be as productive. It wasn't and my friend was getting a few shots off in the woods behind me. He shot 5 pigeon out of the trees and is just getting the hang of shotgunning. I find no sport in shooting them from the branches and could see a place where they seemed to be flying in and over. I walked down leaving the hide with a pocket full of cartridges and found the most suitable area to take the shots. I only had 2 shots before the birds stopped flying which resulted in 2 dead birds: 1 crossing right to left through the trees and a beautiful fast over-head bird. through a clearing. If thats what roost shoot entails - I'm sold! I will get in those woods earlier as they had been flying in a while as I was wtching, waiting for crows - which never appeared (except 2 - and they went to see jesus ). Very good sport and I only had 2 shots! Si
Cosd
Nice one Si-bore, 2 shots 2 birds aint too shoddy at all. I've only ever done roost shooting once and I was sold as well.
Highlander
Not the best time of year for roost shooting, more like nest shooting! No wonder only two shots!
Si-Bore
I was only stood for 20 mins. The birds were feeding on the clover elswhere and flighting into the woods to digest the clover so I'm not over the nests and more on a flightline stop-off before they head back to a main roost. Cheers Si
Cranfield
A good result and you will really enjoy it in the Winter months on a dull, windy afternoon, when there are no leaves on the trees and the big flocks come in to roost. Thats when it gets really interesting.
