casts_by_fly
I cooked mine in the slow cooker with a coleman's lamb hotpot mix and it came out pretty well. Don't over cook and don't use vinegar. Thanks, Rick

Thanks, Rick As I tried to post earlier and pressed the wrong button, plan "B"; As CBF says, use no vinegar, and don't use any recipe that uses the blood, port or cider, all popular recipe additions. These could put you off of hare for life. Most of all, use a young hare, not an old boy that has been around since Noah paddled ashore. Treat it as chicken or rabbit and you won't go far wrong. DaveK
Marinade the meat overnight. We've soaked it in cola, ginger ale, orange squash, pils all of which worked well. Red wine, sherry and port give it too strong a taste. As above, slow cook it. We shove it in a casserole and slow cook for about 5 hours. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. If you can get enough, use the saddle and give the legs to the dogs. Legs aint bad but saddle rocks. Edited May 13, 2008 by DaveK
