Hi Guy's & Gals,

I need some advice on mounting a scope to the rifle.

I've just bought a SAKO TRG-22 in .308 with a Black stock and Blued Barrel and I'm about to fit a NightForce NXS 8-32x56 scope with the Illuminated MLR reticle.

Current suggestions are:

Badger Ordnance (306-80) picatinny 20 moa rail

Badger Ordnance (306-21) 1.0 30mm medium high rings

Tactical Warne rail

Optilock base & rings

I'll be target shooting up to 1000 yrds hence the 20 moa rail.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to put these together.

Cheers

Andy

In 308win you will need a 20moa rail to land shots on target at 1000m, I have the Badger Ordnance 20moa rail and rings on my 308win and I highly recommend them, I haven't tried 1000m yet but it shoots well out to 800m but I still have a lot of testing to do yet.

I've nothing sensible to add to this thread, but I would like to see pictures of the finished setup if possible.

And also, could someone explain the need for a 20 MOA rail? Is it to allow the scope to point "down" more to cope with the fall of shot?

Wookie, you're right, that's what the rail allows for, my 6.5x55 drops 274 inches from a 100 yard zero at 1000yrds (my scope has enough adjustment without the rail). A 308 drops more and the 20 MOA rail means you don't run out of clicks.
