MC
From my personal experience you are rushing it a bit to expect a 15 month old dog to be retreiving game. I would work solidly on the stop whistle and the recall untill they are 100%. Do not worry about the retreive unless you are planning to trial. My springer was 18 months before he even knew he was meant to retreive birds. He had been on dummies up till then, and then only a couple a week. It could be that your dog is bored with retreives if he has had too many. And has found something more interesting to do.

polski
I think you are going about this the wrong way, as said earlier, get the stop and recall 100% first. With the retrieving there is an order to follow, dummies--dummies with fur and feather attached--cold game--and finally fresh shot game. As with all aspects of training make sure everything is right before moving on to the next step. Remember, only a few retrieves per training session. Hope this helps. Rick. snakepitlee
Thanks for your replies Martin , you may be correct in that I have been rushing ,and I going to slow down and take your advice.thanks Rick thanks, as said going to go back a bit Nttf Never used cold game, I have been using resently shot game. One of my next steps was to sock the game, All the training is in the field at the moment. Cheers lee
