Topgunners
I set off this morning to a farm whose "gaffer" rang me yesterday saying he had every crow in the u.k battering his farm. I arrived early morning in the spitty, hissing rain and sat and watched flight lines from a distance, for over half an hour ; before driving into the yard and "spooking" up 200-300 blackies from in and around the buildings. I had decided to set up behind some hay bales that were just a bit short in height so I gathered some loose hay and built a little wall on top of the bale nice & loose so i could see through to shoot. I put out 12 or so deeks on fences, poles, farm machinery etc and got back behind my bale. The horrible rain was blowing in my face and dampening everything but I couldn't shoot the other way round as it was facing the farmhouse. After an hour or so I had dropped 24 when Alan and the boys joined me and I directed the boys under a dead Elm tree where most of the birds were flying into. They put the brolly up and started to shoot straight away. After an hour more the birds had slowed right down so we picked up 47 and then drove to another farm where his peas had been hammered this week and he had lost 3 ACRES of crop already. The pigeons were hitting 1 area at the bottom of the field right next to a public MOTORWAY. Never seen a footpath so busy. Shame, as the wind was blowing over the pathway into the field behind the hedgerow. I decided to set up alongside the field with the wind coming directly down the hedgerow I was on from left to right. I put out 20 deeks, magnet and 3 spreaders and I had 1's & 2's coming in from the off. Shot a bird literally every minute for over half an hour and was then rejoined by Al and the lads( who had nipped off to check some Barley fields) and we set up side by side and by 4.00pm had shot 75 and picked up 68. Can't wait for tomorrow. Dave K

Cranfield
The birds round here seem to be leaving the peas alone. They are snacking on clover and odds and ends, with no great committment. 10 minutes of disturbance and they disappear. Hopefully things will improve as the cereals lay down. malkiserow
The peas are certainly on the menu over here, shot 41 on Friday afternoon just on the magnet and 2 bouncers. Had my home modified deeks on the magnet >>> clicky <<< and hyperflaps on the bouncers. I didn't use my hide as there was a good dry ditch and lots of tall vegetation around me.
