Grass seeds.

Just returned from the vets , after having a grass seed taken out of my cockers paw. He started to limp last night , and after an inspection i spotted it sticking in between his middle toes. It looked well embedded so i did'nt want to try and remove it myself. He has had two injections and a course of antibiotics , so fingers crossed we got it in time.

In future i will be checking his paws every night ( he is my first dog so i'm still learning) , and his ears .

Hitman,

Just a quick piece of advice,

Keep the hair short between their toes, It does help prevent the seeds getting caught.

Although checking after every walk etc is the obvious answer.

My springer had one last year but I was able to get hold of it and pull it out.

Yes my springer had to be sedated last year to have a nasty one remove .

The ears are a big must to .

lot of those sticky things about at the mo .

Sammy went in the hedge this evening .came out looking like a Christmas tree

after every walk give then the once over .may take a bit of time but its might just save you a big vets bill .

My dog is still not putting any pressure on his paw , and hopping everywhere, he did run on it tonight briefly then stopped to lick it. I wash it with warm water about 5 times a day , and there is a bit off muck and blood. He has 3 days of antibiotics still to take , but it is upsetting to see him like this. :)
