kennyboy30
hello tony my own personell way i decoy swathed rape put some deeks on top of the swathed rape as near to the flight line as possible try to get in a good position somewhere in the rape or in a hedge back sometimes i just throw a net over my legs and lower body sit back and wait for the action ive had some great days like this good luck mate
Highlander
You need to be VERY careful shooting on swathed rape! If you do more damage than the birds farmer will (most likely) tell you to take a hike. Touch the stuff as it's drying and the seeds go everywhere so unless there's a hell of a lot of birds hitting it I'd say leave it alone. AND do not use a dog to pick up! Taff Mason
just as highlander says, be very carefull not to damage it more than the birds will. i would set up on the very edge of the field with the flight line coming straight towards you and going straight over your head. this way you can kill the birds and the forward momentum will bring them down on the very edge of the swathed rape, right infront of you or even behind you. this will minimise the damage to the crop. and definately don't use a dog to pick. al4x
I've had some cracking days over it as well, just watch what you're doing and you'll be fine. The pods do split easily but just jump over the swathes and you'll do less damage than shooting standing rape. Sadly my buy has started spraying it off instead which has really cut the number of birds we get right down
