Breda is a long established Italian engineering firm that makes everything from guns to railway locos. It has an excellent pedigree and their auto`s in particular are still very popular in Italy. They sold quite well in the UK until(I think)the early seventies when, for some reason, they ceased trading in this country. Might have had something to do with volume of sales and the fact that they mainly made autos at that time which were`nt as popular as they are now.

It was Breda that invented the "Inertia" system now used by Benelli. They sold them the patent but retained manufacturing rights. Their "Grizzly" model is a direct copy of the Benelli SBE1.

Their O/U`s have an excellent reputation in the US where they`ve been on sale for some time.

I think you`ve had a result!

Nick.

On a historical note. The father of a mate of mine fought in the North African and Italian campaign during WW2. He told me that they used to throw away their BESA and Vickers K machine guns and replace them with captured Breda machine guns which were better made and more reliable.
