bignoel
no need to change colour .the green works fine in corn barley .
johs
Thanks :-) Do you use birds or decoys on the magnet? Do it work on crows? I live in Norway and the pigeon hunt start at 21.08, so I was thinking about trying it out on the crows.
bignoel
i do use birds for magnets but i use decoys to get the first couple then switch to real birds crows over wheat/barly if they are plenty get a couple of crows put on magnet and if anything like i have been experianceing you are in for a hell of a day goodluck yes crows/rooks work well
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Green is ok. Works for Corvids just fine. Shot birds works best but unless you hold some back from the last outing you'll need some flying deeks.
Highlander
The days of the pigeon magnet are dead! Taking cover . The days of the flapper are here! I've been experimenting with magnets and flappers for a while now and IMO more birds commit to the flappers than the magnets. I used to see a lot of birds committing suicide on the magnets but not so many lately but they will do so on flappers.
Plumbob
Carried out an experiment last week on cut barley with and without the magnet and found exactly that , the birds were sometimes, not always atractted by ithe magnet but would spook easily at the last moment and scare off following birds. Without the magnet, with two wobblers out they committed in perfectly and the numbers were the same or better got more following bird shots having just reloaded. I think for certian situations its a great tool and good to take in the van but not something to rely on everytime, for the weight of it not worth lugging across a muddy field if it wont do the job. HaveToShoot
I agree with not using in on stubble. Same result as you with spooking. I have had far better sucess with a couple flappers (both crow and pigeon). I found on winter greens and standing/laid barley the magnet works a treat but not on stubble. I just leave it in the car. steve_b_wales
I have used a crow on a flapper with intermittent timer. This combined with other decoys/dead birds spread out, and a Primos Power Crow Call, makes a deadly combination. Average bags for me are 20-40 but I once shot 128 in 3 hours using this set-up.
