viking
hi guys, im thinking of selling my beretta 686E and getting a DT10, my mate shoots with one ans forever picking it up and mounting it, (empty and down range of course) and it just feels so nice and rite, im shooting quite well at the moment so im thinking why change, i know this might sound a daft question but i was once told, the only daft question is the one thats not asked, and i would like your thoughts and view, kind regards, lee
Wookie
Can you not borrow your mate's one for a couple of shoots and see how it feels when it's actually being shot? I'd hate to flog something, buy something else and then find out that the first was better...
Cushat
It's a big jump in price, so shoot your mates a bit first if possible? I used to have one and really liked it, but they are quite heavy and I know a few who haven't got on with them.
Lloydfred
Hi I have a 32" DT10 with extended Optima chokes, it is a real nice peace of kit, but don't fall into the trap as I did, yes it's nice and yes it gets respect down the field when you pull it out of that hard blue carry case, but No it don't make you shoot any better!!! However I would never change it. Please look at my other post for a problem I am suffering with the finish quality on the DT. Chard
Great shotguns, but I also know a couple of blokes who've not got on with them. I've had quite a few shots through DT10's and love them. I love the balance. It starts off like a quite heavy gun, but when you mount it, the weight seems to disappear - superb. One of the blokes who didn't like them probably just needed to have it fitted better, because it whacked his cheekbone quite severely all the time, whereas his previous and subsequent guns didn't. I shot with it and it didn't bother me at all If I had the dosh, I'd have one for sure However, I do agree with previous posts, that you should have a couple of extended sessions with your mates gun, bearing in mind that they don't seem to suit everybody. JonnyR
I was thinking the same too. But unlike you I really could not get on with them. My local dealer had an adjustable stock 30" with fantastic wood, so I borrowed it and went to the clay club. Couldn't hit a barn door and my mate, the instructor, then altered the stock so it fitted!!! Started hitting stuff but left me with a bruised cheek bone - so it obviously didn't fit again!! The instructor has one too - 32" left handed - I am right handed and I can't get on with that either. Neither gun is ideal but I found that I just can't get on with the weight - my gun is a 28" Silver Pigeon III in game spec so a lot lighter. Tried a Blaser - hated it. Then a Perazzi on Sunday - a 31.5" MX12 - loved it for its lightness but thought it very dull to look at . Hit lots more fast going away birds than with my game gun. I would like to think because it is bored full and 3/4 versus 38" barrels and 1/4 and a 1/2 in my Silver Pigeon. Also tried a friends SO6 EELL - sublime but would ned to sell the house to buy one Think I am finally settled on the new Silver Pigeon Ltd edition in sporter spec - 30" barrels and multi-choke to complement my game gun. The weight and balance just feel right but I can't shot one as they are all brand new. In summary try as many guns as you can and go with the one that feels right. I am only buying a sporter because I have started shooting FITASC, Compact etc and want something with a bit more range. Let's face it, it's not about the gun, other than the confidence it gives you. They do vary a bit in price, I've seen them from £1900 up to £2250.
