Staffs-Shooter
Question - i have a FAC & have applied for a variation for a 4 shot semi automatic shotgun. Will i be restruicted to shooting on land which is approved under my FAC or free to use my judgement as per normal pest control with my SGC? Ive got a visit from the Firearms people coming up but wanted to get briefed by you experts first!
henry d
Your FAC applies to the firearms you have at that time, see under "Additional conditions...." on front page. Any subsequent firearms will be different.
codling99
suppose it depends if you have an open ticket or not, your best bet is to ask for open ticket if you havent got one,and quiz them on details on shotgun,i know my mate had a 5 shot and says on his ticket that its only to be used for birds ,so legally he cant shoot a fox with it ,the law s a strange thing, check with police and tell them what you want it for ,and make sure you tell them everything you want to shoot with it cos they may write it on ticket.,depending on force too. steve_b_wales
As mentioned by Codling99 above, I have a 6 shot FAC shotgun. It states on my ticket that it can only be used for crop protection. As I have an 'open' ticket, I can take it on any land where I have permission and where suitable. The conditions as to where you can use the shotgun will be under the conditions of your FAC ticket. It cannot be used as per a normal shotgun certificate. Check the conditions on your ticket. CharlieT
They are not normally land restricted. I have never seen one that is. I've seen them restricted to a certain capacity, to avian pests only and to the all encompassing vermin which is what you want if you can get it. Don't forget to also ask for clay shooting which they should also grant. You may never use it at a clay ground but may as well have it on your fac. Why have you restricted yourself to 4 shot. Most are 5 with the ability to up the capacity to 8 or more.
