Lamping with Andy CM

I had the privilege to go out with Andy last night on his permission for some lamping of the Reynard.

Heres what happened. I found his drum fairly easily despite not having Dunganick with me to send me in the opposite direction which is his usual trick :P and I timed it all wrong as dinner had already been served :( The aroma had my mouth watering :hmm: and his Terrier was obviously first in line for any leftovers. Once he had finished his nosebag we made off in his Jimny to his land and I took the time to tell him all the PW members that should be avoided at all costs (which is pretty much all of you) :D:D;)

We got to the first field of bales and parked up as we waited for the light to disappear. We watched a couple of Hares move out from the hedgerow and I couldn't help thinking that it would have been good to have the Lurcher's with us :o but we all know that is a bad thing now, apparently :/

It had clouded over very nicely which was good as there was a fairly big waning moon but it soon turned to rain, not that it dampened our enthusiasm, we had a shine about but nothing much was happening here so we moved on to some more spots.

I can't remember whether it was the 2nd or 3rd spot we got to before Andy picked a set of eyes. So it was lights off, out the motor, move light to the battery pack, pass him the .243, and get out in the rain. This fox was very wary and I am pretty sure it was the same one that we then moved four times to try and keep in touch with it as it reacted the same way every time he started squeaking it. Just as I was thinking that this one may have been too clever Andy managed to get us in a high spot looking down at it with a good backstop. So it was out the motor, swop rifle for light, find Reynard and squeak it again. He told me to move the lamp off the fox and slighty to the side, then bang.

I moved the lamp far and wide to make sure there was no movement and then we went in for collection. It took a little while to find a very healthy dog fox with teeth like pearls.

I wont bore you with the rest but will tell you that I lamped a set of eyes that Andy very quickly identified as a Brock :hmm: We finished the night off watching a good dog fox, I guess, running a field and a quick check of a small field beside the motorway.

Thanks very much Andy, it was good meeting you, your wife, the lickle one. BTW your terrier seems too well behaved to be known as one so I will assume it's been crossed with a sensible dog :hmm: Your wifes friend was quite nice too ;)

I will set up a day on the woodies soon mate
