malkiserow
Just a simple idea...... Use old bicycle spokes as head props for dead birds to give a better look to your birds/pattern ..... these small spikes are made of stainless steel. Very handy

Ninj
or bamboo skewers they look like straw and as cheap as chips. Or those thin garden sticks for pot plants etc, cut to about 9" and sharpened.
Si-Bore
Kebab sticks from a supermarket - 95p for 100! They look better than cradles on stubble or short crop. Si

THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
With bike spokes though you can bend & shape a neck rest rather than just jab a pointy stick into the neck. With scewers the head often just rolls over.
steve_b_wales
I use garden canes cut to about a foot and sharpened at one end. I put the cane up through the rear of the pigeon/crow, into the head, and then place it in an upright position. Works every time.
