kyle333
Im thinking of starting up pigeon decoying. I usually just do alot of roost shooting, Im considering buying 12 shell decoys(£25)and a Electronic Flapping Decoy Pigeon(£36). Is this enough to get me going?will it work?theres so much different stuff to choose from full decoys, shells, head up,head down, flappers magnets(which are big money),floaters etc. A bit confused
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Start simple & add as you decide things would improve. Watch the pigeons reactions to what you have & go from there.
Popgun
Thats good enough make sure you do a bit of reconnaissance the secret is be where the birds want to feed if you want a good day i hope you have some good days,if you get it right there is nothing to touch decoying best of luck to you
Guest topshot_2k
get the flocked decoys if you can afford it. they dont reflect the sun and spook the pigeons. they are about £45 for 12 flocked shells. I wouldnt bother with the electronic stuff to start with, just 12 decoys, camo net and maybe a pigon floater, should be able to get all that for under £

henry d
Do the flocked decoys make much difference though? Not IMHO, I just painted my shells with matt humbrol/primer paints and use tippex for the white bits for both pigeon and duck decoys :look:

If you have plastic painted then its upto you about changing, if your buying from scratch save yourself time/hassle of painting them and buy flocked ones
kyle333
Where is the cheapest place on the net to buy pigeon decoys?
George1990
http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/pl2_SHOOT-EQ_DECOY[a]CAM.htm - Here Get 12 full bodied decoys for less than 24 quid. They're not high definition but you could add a bit of extra white to catch their attention. I am thinking of starting decoying and this is definately the place i'd get them from. I've bought other gun stuff from there before at knock down prices and never a late delivery. Someone mentioned reflections, and I wondered if glueing some real feathers to the decoys would be effective? Obviously have to put them in a realistic pattern Edited September 14, 2008 by George1990
