Dunkield
An interesting case, it is good the shop are being supportive even if they seem to be clutching at straws like the rest of us. I tend to disagree with the gasses theory as well, but you have to try it just to rule it out.
MC
There is a reverse to that theory, Smallbore target shooters are starting to use extension tubes on their barrels, predominately to extend the sight base but apparently it controls the exit gasses uniformly and therefore the bullet is more stable. garyb
Right.. finally managed to get out and try again. This time I had the ammo provided FOC by the RFD.. some 50grn Norma V-max, 55grn Federal Softpoints and the Remington 50grn Accutip-V's which showed the Key holeing mentioned before... All shots were with the T8 Mod ON. 1st clip was with the Federal 55grn Softpoints... All on paper and fairly tight, noting to bad 2nd Clip was the Remington Accutip... Not a single round was anywhere near my point of aim.. they were all over the place, keyholeing a plenty.. Infact Stealth Stalker observed one of the 3 shots hit the ground around 15-20 yards INFRONT of the target. When we went to observe, there was a hugeee groove / burn mark in the turf. 3rd Clip was the 50grn Norma's... Again one shot spot on but the other two.. All over the place, one was around 6-8 inches left and low, almost off the target.. So we switched back to the 55grns... and not a problem at all... Remember from my previous posts... we can find NO issue with any of this ammo in 50 or 55grn with the mod off... So it' did appear to be a problem mix of 50grn and mod! Perhaps the shop / gunsmith were right afterall ! I'm happy as I now know it's safe shooting with the T8 and 55grn rounds.
