Paul@Ribchester
Hi mate, I'm in the same boat, I live near Preston and have a few fields to shoot on around here but nothing major. I need to get some decoys and a hide I think. I could do with someone experienced to take me out and show me how its done......
lewis 682
Hi mate. i live in the north west too (manchester)& joined the NPPC two years ago the nearest area to me is probably tadcaster or boston spa, theese are in north yorkshire & take me about 45 min drive which is nowt for a good day out. Joining fees are £150 first year dropping to about £100 second year. After joining you'll receive a list of shooting land from darlington down to coventry, the field location can be found easily using map reference on wwwordnancesurvey.co.uk Next step is to pick your spot and book out with John Shooter,7-10pm weekdays only. Most of the crop is oilseed rape but other crops do come available as they get hammered by pigeons(usually at short notice) Once you get to know where to shoot, you can spend more time checking out other land on the list, watching pigeon movement flightlines etc making the most of your trip out. Cracking set-up give John shooter a ring for more info tel;01423 711489 or check out the website hope thats of some use mate, Lewis

lampa
I'd just reinforce what Lewis has said, Join the NPPC, good value for money etc. If your new to the sport then you could possibly find another member who's local to you to take you out for a day to help point you in the right direction etc and you could even share the petrol money. Cheers Adey
Psyxologos
That makes sense. I might do this, as soon as I can afford it. Being new to the sport I had to spend a LOT for gun, insurance, cartridges, gun cabinet, etc etc! Thanks a lot!
mcw65
As we farm in the northwest and any beginers are stuck for a day out later in the year and providing pigeons are feeding on late sown wheat or spring drilling and i have time i will take someone out for a day to let them have a go/show them how its done. Should be able to find plenty of pigeons as theres still a couple of hundred acres still to sow.

Guest
I too live in Preston, only five minutes away from the city central! I've only just turned 18 but have been shooting under supervision for about four years. I have shooting permission in Leyland in the South Ribble Borough of Lancashire and also in Yorkshire covering 10,000's of acres. It's mainly down to family involved in the shooting scene thats enabled me to have shooting rights on so much land. I recently recieved my shotgun license and had the shotgun I was borrowing tranfered onto my license. Pretty much since then i've been shooting independantly and have achieved many 100+ bird bags!
