Dunkield
Having spent what seems like most of my life, but in fact only about 4-5 weeks on a DIY project at home, I realised that apart from a very quick rabbiting session I hadn't been out properly for over a month. Quick call to a mate and a trout fishing trip was arranged for Saturday. Almost predictably he let me down at the last second, but as I was looking forward to it and the weather was about perfect I went on my own. Short version is, set up with intermediate line and small nymph, because that is what worked last time.... Having thought it through, and with trout rising all round the boat I put a floating line and a small buzzer on and caught the first fish with the second cast. I returned the next one as it didn't look very well and kept the next one, even though it was badly cormorant damaged (I wasn't sure what their policy on that was) When I asked they said "there isn't one" so in future any damaged fish can go back. It was only half a day, bobbing about in a boat on a quiet lake, only a couple of other fisherman out there, but it made a nice break from working on the house. The old saying "it was just nice to get out there" is fairly worn out, but in this case very true. The damaged fish: The better one:
Dunkield
Just found this on the camera, this was the view from the boat at about 9am

Dunkield
The picture doesn't show the whole fish Pedro, it was very underweight and had no fight in it at all, the other one went like a train under the boat and back out again etc. As I noticed the hole I also saw what looked like lice crawling out from the wound, so it only seemed humane to kill it. Some fisheries don't count damaged fish towards your limit.
Cranfield
Nice pics Stuart. Most places I fish welcome damaged or sick looking fish being culled, its something I certainly agree with.
Dunkield
They seemed a bit confused by the question, so I didn't push it as I had had a great morning either way. I am fussy enough about what I eat anyway, so lets just say, it didn't enter the human food chain
