icarter
Hi all I am a complete newbie! My girlfriend paid for me and my brother to go skeet shooting at the Kingsferry gun club on Sunday. It was great! I hit 17 on the skeet. I thought that was good!! I am now hooked! I am going to apply for my shotgun license and I will be back at Kingsferry very soon. They were a top bunch of people. They made us feel very welcome. Any suggestions on what would be a good gun for a beginner? I would look to spend upto £1000 for the set up. Hope that's enough! Anyway, I have had a look round here and some great info so will do some more digging Thanks Ian

Billett
Hello and welcome. I've not far off a begineer to, i went out with £1000 to cover gun, ammo, license and cabinet, this was enough. I would recommend, going again and ensure its something you would really like to continue with. Then get your cabinet and license before looking for a gun. The worst thing you can do as a begineer is to walk into a gun shop with £700-1000 and say 'i want a gun but im not sure', you will find yourself £1000 down with a gun the doesn't fit you. Whilst applying for your license take the time to go into a few gun shops, see what they have in your price range, and have a feel, whether it sits in your shoulder, whether its the right length and so on. Talk to the gun dealer and try and get as much information from him as possible before making your choice. Chris
p@cman
to PW Sound advice from Billett; avoid rushing out and buying a gun straight off. Ask around the club you shoot at and try out as many guns as you can. When it comes to buying one, gun fit is all important. If it don't fit you it will make hitting the clays that much more difficult. Enjoy it
