foxesworstnightmare
hey people, I have recently bought a Sako 75 hunter slightly second hand. i have a leupold 3.5-10x50 scope. Im using Hornady v-max 40gn bullets. im having problems with zeroing and will only shoot about 4inches at 100yards . Making clicks on the scope doesnt seem to make a difference, even off a bipod. If anyone has any tips I would be greatly appreciative. Also, i do not know what MOA stands for.
tulkyuk
MOA stands for Minute of accurracy What twist rate is your barrel - if its a 1:8 then 50grn upwards will be better in it - some will say thers shoot ok with 40gn, but they are few and far between. you should try different bullets untill you find a factory round that shoots sub-inch - if not the only other way is to reload. harv
MOA stands for minute of angle and that is exactly what it is, roughly equates to 1 inch at at 1 hundred yards, 10 inches at a thousand yards. if a gun is said to shoot sub moa it would be capable of grouping shots as above. it is actually part of a calculation and with other factors can determine range and amount of adjustment required to make the shot. Bleeh
Slow down, It's two easy to consider there being a problem more complex than it really is. Now, are you sure it isn't something as simple as your scope is on slightly wonky?, or possibly broke?

They are optilock mounts so i dont think they would have moved and the clicks are nice and clear on the scope

dunganick
Is there a shape to this group? vertical stringing? What support are you using? Does it have a moderator? If so which one? Is the barrel free floated (a £20 note can pass between the barrel and stock) Is the scope known to be ok. What twist rate is the rifle. As has been mentioned try some 50 grain rounds. Try american eagle, hornady, norma, some of the decent makes. If it has a moderator, remove it, see if it groups better. If it does then theres your problem. If its not free floated this could be your problem, but then it might present other symptoms in the group shape.
