Fuji Shooter
Hi About to place a biggish order to tide us over the winter and the ongoing coaching. As little fellow has ditched the 20b semi for a 12b OU at least we can now use the same ammo. Any opinions on what the best 21gms cartridges are to buy for clay shooting? Windknot
I've used Lyalvale Express HV Fibre Wad, and Hull Comp-X Plaswad 21 gram carts, and both are excellent. Recoil on the plaswad is a bit softer than the FW, but my local shoot is Fibre wad only. Hull now do a fibre wad 21g Comp-X, so I'll give that a go next. Incidentally, these loads break clays just fine. I was concerned that pattern density might suffer- there are 285 #7.5 pellets per cartridge (give or take a few, of course) compared to the 450 or so #8's I'm used to in the 28 gram load. A fast going away mini ideally intercepted at about 35 yards soon changed my mind- if I did my part the mini would break convincingly every time. I was using 3/8 choke at the time. And when I missed, well, no amount of lead is going to break a clay if it's going the wrong way. So far the 21's also reset the inertia trigger on every gun I tried them on. Obviously not an issue if your gun has a mechanical trigger. Hope this helps. Jakes
Fuji Shooter
Thanks for that feedback - our club is plastic OK but I think I'll get the fibre ones as then we will be OK to shoot at some of the other local fibre only venues. Is justcartridges the best place to buy in bulk (say couple thousand at a time? Edited October 19, 2008 by Freakmode
Cranfield
I have used the Gamebore White Gold 24gms in fibre and been very impressed with some quite long range clay breaking. The recoil is not noticeable. If you are buying "a couple of thousand" ring round your local Gunshops, there are a few deals around at the moment. Don't forget to add postage on to the Just Cartridges price.
clayslayer
Try the ELEY first Lites I have been using them for all my clay shooting and found them to be exellent. Available in 71/2 8 and 9s in both fibre and plastic.

Klunk
Gamebore super XLR #8 21GM Fibre work a treat for me. Will splat clays as well as anything, recoil's lightish, but plenty enough to reset inertia triggers on an O/U. Not tried 'em in a semi, so can't comment on whether they'll cycle properly or not, but if i had to guess I'd say the'll probably have enough clout. The missus loves 'em.
